Hey John! Thank you so much for answering a few questions! How are you doing?

Saint Claire: Doing great! Getting over a cold and getting ready for a show this Friday.

How did your current sound emerge? Did you have any specific inspiration?

Saint Claire: I call it Cinematic Pop. It’s a blend of acoustic/electronic. I’m a huge fan of movie music and soundtracks, so I’d like to think my songwriting moves about in a cinematic way.

What are your TOP 3 records of all time?

Saint Claire: WOW this is extremely difficult. I honestly couldn’t pick a top 3, but I can give you 3 songs that had a huge impact on me.

Can’t Make You Love Me - Bonnie Raitt

This song is ridiculously beautiful. The writing is so simple and gorgeous. Bruce Hornsby’s piano playing is a huge inspiration to me as well.

Concerning Hobbits - Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings)

The opening melody in this song is without a doubt one of my favorite melodies of all time. Again, it’s so simple and beautiful. It showed me how powerful a single melody can be.

Alive - Sia

There are a lot of pop songs I love, but Sia’s writing crushes me every time. The Acapella hook at the end of Alive makes me want to scream every single time I hear it. She convinced me that you can write pop music and retain your soul.

You're a part of Macklemore's new album „GEMINI“ - how did this collaboration start/happen and how was working with Macklemore?

Saint Claire: First off, working with Ben Haggerty was great. He’s so calm and collected in studio. I don’t have a wild story about how the collaboration started - I got a phone call from Ben’s producer, Budo, asking if I was free to come into the studio to help with a song. I honestly thought I was just helping behind the scenes with lyrics and melody, aaaaaall the way up until they asked me to hop in the booth and sing the hook.

Are there any plans about coming to Europe and playing shows here?

Saint Claire: I’ve never been to Europe! Take me! No scheduled tours to Europe, but best believe I will be there soon.

What are your biggest dreams / aims for the future?

Saint Claire: I want to hone my craft and do the best I can for the music. It’s already done so much for me. And then I want to share that happiness with as many people as I possibly can, in as big a way as possible.
